Last year, I built a sound-proofed, built-in doghouse under my stairs, so Bucky would have a safe place to hide when he got scared. On the 4th of July, he let me know, in no uncertain terms, that I had wasted my time.

My dad always hated cats, said we’d never have one. We got a kitten by chance and they’re now best buds, like he would literally die for that cat. Sleeps with him and everything. Here he is shuffling to the edge of the shed roof so my dad (6ft 6) can give him scratches. Melts my heart.

This is Izzy the cat who started out as a stray and has ended up officially adopted by the local supermarket. She sits by the front door and accepts all pats offered, and has a selection of her own furniture.
